A lot of people had previously speculated that a new iPad will be unveiled along with the iPhone on this September. However, John Gruber from Daring Fireball stated that to do so would not make much sense as this device would definitely steal the spotlight from the iPhone. That wouldn’t be a good thing either considering that both of these devices need to be highlighted on two separate events.

In addition to the statement by John Gruber, AllThingsD also reported that the company had received information from several sources stating that there will be two separate events. These are for the upcoming iPhone and the alleged iPad Mini. The iPhone will be announced sometime in September whereas the iPad Mini will be introduced sometime in October. Any further details about the device has yet to be known although the size is estimated to be between seven to eight inches, much smaller than the current iPad.

The market segment for a smaller formed tablet is not hold by Apple but rather from various Android devices. Google had already released a powerful 7-inch tablet which is the Nexus 7 and by the looks of it, the device can be a stiff competitor in a market that is untapped by Apple. Thus, it only makes much sense for the company to invest on the creation of a 7-inch or a smaller form tablet.
