Konnet is a newcomer in the US iPhone an iPod accessory market.

Their offerings, while not extensive, bring a unique look and feel in a market filled with copycats. Today I’d like to look at the two doc offerings in their lineup –

My Take —

When I first opened the box I wasn’t all that impressed. The cradle is made out of plastic and has an unusual design. After using it for awhile, however, I realized that I actually like it. There are a number of reasons for this.

First off, it offers both syncing and charging capabilities with a female receptor for the iPhone cable in the back. It also features an audio out jack so you can use the cradle of music to a self powered speaker system. Even without a plug-in, however, the design of the cradle enhances the sound coming from the iTunes speakers significantly. While playing music on the iPhone I listen to it sans cradle and then placed it into the cradle. The latter configuration allowed a far brighter and loud sound — to a degree that was surprising.

I also like the fact that this cradle works independent of the size and shape of the device it is syncing and charging. That means it can charge an iPhone or an iPod nano and everything in between. It also means that the iPhone can be in a case and still fit into the cradle comfortably.

What I like —

Syncs and charges and iPhone, iPod touch and more

Doesn’t require inserts unique to an individual device weighs some other cradles to

Has an audio out port

Enhances the sound coming off the iPhone speaker by simply reflecting the sound

What needs improvement —

Not the greatest build quality I’ve seen

Unique design you’ll either love or hate.

 My Take —

This cradle is similar in look to its sister unit above. In this case, however, instead of being made out of white plastic it’s made out of light scratch resistant metal that matches my iMac nicely. Other differences include the fact that there is no audio out and the iPhone sync cable actually feeds up into the device and is held by a plastic locking mechanism that the iPhone actually clips directly into the cable charger.

This cradle also offers "advanced reflex design to enhance the speaker quality and microphone reception". It’s a nice additional feature that works whether or not the cable is plugged into a computer for syncing and charging.

 What I like —

Silver medal matches my iMac

Syncs and charges the iPhone

What needs improvement —

Doesn’t have an audio out jack

Unusual design that you either love or hate
