iPhone Combusting on Plane Due to Bad Repairs

Apparently a lot can happen if you do not send your phones to be repaired at the original manufacturer. In the case of the iPhone that was self-combusted in a plane last year, that was exactly what happened because the iPhone combusted not due to the flaws in the design but through rather a poorly done repair.

After further investigation on the matter that has had tons of coverage, especially because the phone being highlighted is an iPhone, it was found that the screw had pierced its way through the phone’s battery and as a result, it had deformed the battery heavily. As a result, thick dense smoke started to be emitted from the iPhone which triggered an alarming situation for the people onboard the aircraft. The phone was then sent to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) for further investigation on the cause of the self-combustion.

The screw that had pierced the battery had caused the phone to be overheated and thus why the combustion had occurred. The Chief Commissioner had also warned against using unauthorized service center as their expertise is not on par with the official ones. It may be cheaper but it might not be worth the trouble in the future.
