iPhone Inductive Charging Patent Granted

What better to view the future of a company or a product than to look at the patents the company is filing on. In the case of the iPhone, a few of them had emerged on which amongst them include a 3D camera amongst many more. Another interesting patent that Apple was filing on was of an inductive charging dock and it is certainly a unique dock that will change the way the iPhone charge and work.

The inductive charging dock features no wired contacts as it will be making use of inductive coupling instead. This means that all the user needs to do to charge their phone is to place it at the dock and then it does all the charging work. The patent was filed in 2008 although it is only now that the patent was granted to Apple.

This is a rather cool concept that Apple will be trying to apply on its iPhone. However, just so you know that inductive charging isn’t anything new because the concept has already been applied by a few companies such as Palm with its Touchstone inductive charging. With this being said and done, the future on the iPhone seems to be untethered because everything will be done wirelessly.
