Apple iPhone is one of the most popular smartphones in the world, but in the U.S. is the most profitable produced by a local company. 125 million iPhones were sold in 2012 by Apple, their sales revenues accounting for over half of total revenue recorded by the Company. Specifically, from its sales of 156.5 billion dollars, iPhones were accounted for 80.5 billion dollars, an increase of 73% over 2011.

The iPhone is by far the most successful product Apple sells. Of the company’s $156.5 billion in worldwide sales in 2012, $80.5 billion came from the iPhone alone. Apple sold more than 125 million units last year, a 73% increase from 2011. Each iPhone is far more profitable than each iPad, the company’s second best-selling product. iPhones operating margin is 40%, 5% higher than that recorded for any other Apple product, and 10% higher than the product of the top two ranked in U.S. Marlboro cigarettes. Basically among the most profitable products in the U.S., iPhones are followed by Marlboro cigarettes, drinks produced by Monster and the soft drinks produced by Coca Cola.
