Jobs Site At 7 Days: 15 Gigs, Big Brands, Coast-to-Coast and International

A week ago I launched our Free iPhone Jobs Board. In case you missed it: it’s free to post but all gigs are screened before being published.

To qualify, the ad must be for a position/that is primarily iPhone related, have a budget that supports market rates, and they must have experience working with developers.

After a week, there are mix of 15 jobs and contract gigs. The gigs are from locations coast-to-coast, internationally and of the telecommuting variety. The spots are from names you know, including Apple, Yahoo, Tapulous, Gameloft, Ngmoco:) and others.

I encourage you subscribe to the Jobs Feed and/or follow @iphonedevjobs on Twitter.

Also, I’d love your feedback. Specifically: how do you feel about head-hunter posts? There are a lot of help-wanted out there that begin with “our client…” Would including them dilute or enhance the jobs board? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

My only reques would be, when there are a good number of jobs, to duplicate the categories of authenticjobs.com: fulltime and contract and then tag jobs with either design, development or both. Great start though and a much needed job list.

On the one hand, head-hunters are the lubricant of the industry. On the other hand, some follow a shotgun approach. Including them on the board is almost certainly going to result in lower quality job ads, because they aren’t as often updated, or are unclear, etc. IMHO it would be nice to see how it is going without inclusion.

Not all “our client…” posts are from headhunters, they could come from a service provider that does development work for third party clients, in house (that’s how I’m partly employed right now). My cut line would be: who’s going to pay for the position? If it’s the company posting the ad, then it’s ok.

  4. Generally, I prefer the ones without headhunters. But I think there was one from a design firm that needed dev work for working with their client, which is fine by me. I think as long as the company posting the ad is directly involved in the project, OR the headhunter isn’t a complete “shotgun” operation, it’s OK.

And that guy in the picture is right, by the way. We should impeach Lincoln, Jefferson, and Clinton. Living in LA now, I completely forgot about him!

I’d leave off the headhunters. We can see them all over the place as it is. Right now you’ve got a pretty high signal to noise ratio, which is kind of rare! I say treasure it!
