Motorola seeking 2.25% sales revenue from iPhone

The German court had previously demanded that the iPhone 3GS listing to be removed from the Apple online store in Germany. This is due to the court injunction that Motorola had asked for as Apple had been breaching some of company’s wireless patents in all of their 3G devices. However, the reason why only the 3GS has been affected may be because the suit was applied before iPhone 4 and 4S made it to the market.

More on that news would be that Motorola is seeking 2.25% of the total sales revenue that Apple had already received for all of its devices using the technology made by Motorola. Such examples of these devices are the iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 although the iPhone 4S isn’t included in the court appeal. 2.25% of Motorola’s cut, should they win this legal battle, would be roughly around $2.08 billion as the total revenue that Apple had received is around $92.64 billion. This is definitely a large sum of money that Motorola is demanding from Apple.

As in the case of the iPhone 4S on the other hand, Motorola is not seeking any money from that device as it uses Qualcomm technology on which Motorola has a cross-license agreement with. Apple’s usage of Qualcomm technology would make the company have its license extended thus sparing the device from the cut.
