New in the App Store — Brothers In Arms

I am continually amazed by the improvements in iPhone and iPod touch gaming that are taking place on a seemingly daily basis. The games are getting more sophisticated, the graphics are getting more vivid, and overall, we’re seeing more and more games released that bring computer or console gaming to the diminutive handset. Who could have ever thought that Nanosaur, with its incredible graphics, could be rendered perfectly on an iPhone? Or a racing game like Fastlane could suck you into the iPhone’s small screen so easily?

The latest "wow" game to arrive in the App Store is Brothers In Arms. It is remarkable!

I only had a chance to play briefly last night so I don’t have a tremendous amount to share at this point  but I can make a few observations. The graphics are quite good and it actually plays like a real console game.  The controls are a little bit awkward, particularly at first. Since you don’t have a keyboard or joystick you control both movement and perspective by touching different parts of the screen. You also fire your weapon, throw grenades etc. by tapping yet a different part of the screen. It took a while before I was able to do any real maneuvering on the screen with the control set up the way they are but after a brief period of time I found myself becoming increasingly proficient.

At $9.99 Brothers In Arms is one of the more expensive games I have played in quite a while but initial impressions are that it is worth every penny!

It is available HERE in the App Store.
