It took much longer than expected but Gesture, the new iPhone painting app from our friends at Big Stone Phone/Stone Designs, has finally been released.

We posted about Gesture a full two weeks ago which gives some insight into how long it may be taking for apps to make their way through whatever flawed review process Apple has put in place. I just downloaded it and cannot wait to use it a bit. While my artistic talents are more than a bit challenged, Gesture does look like a fun way to express your creativity (or lack there of).

According to the folks at Stone Design-

Gesture lets you create digital paintings from your photos. With just a little imagination, you can can make beautiful works of art. Be as rough or tight as you like as Gesture translates your movements into paint strokes using a sampled color from the photo below. Bringing a popular artistic technique from the desktop to the iPhone and iPod touch, Gesture makes creating stunning works of art a breeze for the artist and non-artist alike. Gallery Features: – View your masterpieces in landscape mode – Add and delete paintings – Share and view paintings from other Gesture users online Studio Features: – Save your painting to Photos – Play back your painting like a movie – Instantly Pointilize your photo – Zoom in for detail work – Unlimited undo – Load any image on the internet

Gesture is available now for $4.99 and can be found here in the App Store
