Sn0wbreeze 2.9.4 untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 devices

After pod2g and the Chronic Dev Team released Absinthe 2.0 which is their version of the iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak tool, iH8sn0w released his own version which is the Sn0wbreeze 2.9.4. This particular jailbreak tool makes use of the pod2g untethered jailbreak which is called Absinthe 2.0. It allows users to create their own pre-jailbreak firmware on which they can use to upgrade their iOS devices to the latest version of iOS.

Unlike Absinthe 2.0, Sn0wbreeze is limited to almost all iOS devices except the Apple TV3, iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3. This is because the last three devices make use of the A5(X) processor and until they can find a low level exploit, it isn’t possible for them to jailbreak these devices. This is because anything other than a low level exploit can be considered to be a security hole and is also illegal as well.

In other news, Apple had released a minor iOS 5.1.1 update which is revision 9B208 although the one released last week was 9B206. This update is made available only on the GSM version of the iPhone 4. As of date, Sn0wbreeze do not support this update so you might not want to update your iPhone 4 until you can find a jailbreak tool that supports it.
