Stitcher just announced the addition of a new car mode for their radio and podcasting app developed for the iPhone, which now brings a simplified interface that can work in any position be it landscape or portrait. The car mode becomes accessible when you tap the Stitcher logo displayed at the top part of the iPhone’s screen.

The car mode feature is aimed at keeping drivers’ eyes off their iPhones’ screens and on the road. It brings with it a simplified version of the app’s standard user interface, with only the basic audio controls and bigger buttons. It cannot be said to be in the same class of the flashy BMW integration by Stitcher, but giving it a spin will still help you drive safely.

The app has also come with some more updates, including top headlines on a front page, one-tap access to your preferred podcasts and shows, and enhanced playback when you have to pick up half-way through a show.
