T-Mobile USA having support for unlocked iPhones

Before, it might be understandable that T-Mobile isn’t one of the companies that sell the iPhone but after the exclusivity contract has ended, T-Mobile is losing ground to a lot of other companies due to the lack of iPhone support. However, the company isn’t so much to blame as it uses a different network as compared with many other GSM companies.

The 3G network of T-Mobile USA uses the frequency of 1700/2100MHz (also known as AWS band) which is different than the usual 850,900, 1900 or 2100MHz frequency that is so widely used. Due to this, little support is available for the iPhone as it does not support AWS band. In the future, it is said that the next iPhone will be having AWS support does opening its doors for 3G support on T-Mobile network.

The lack of 3G capability isn’t stopping roughly 1 million unlocked iPhone users from subscribing to T-Mobile. Earlier in July, the company had begun releasing micro-SIM cards which is used on the iPhone 4 and 4S. Now, based on a leaked document, the company will be doing more to support the unlocked iPhone subscribers. The customer will now be able to call only once to get information and there will be an iPhone section in the Community page amongst many other supports.
