Tim Cook apologizes over Maps fiasco

It isn’t every day that you see a high-profile corporation apologize for their mistake. However, with so many complaints about the new Maps application present in the iOS 6, it is a shame that they called their Maps application as the “most beautiful, powerful mapping service”. Thus it makes much sense for Tim Cook to apologize for the mistake of releasing the application ahead of when it was supposed to be.

The Maps application present in iOS 6 had a lot of problems. Users reported that the Maps were incomplete and the navigations were the least accurate. Suffice to say that the Maps application felt like it was more of an alpha version instead of a stable one. Users that were used to the Google based Maps application definitely felt the change. It was no longer as fluid and the 3D mapping doesn’t work properly in a lot of places. Some maps rendering were also flawed.

With this being said and done, Tim Cook also recommended for the iPhone users to use third-party applications such as Nokia Maps or Bing Maps instead. This is until the problem has been rectified by the company. Those that wants to use Google Maps can also pin the mobile web link to their home screen.
