US Stolen Phones will be Blocked from Major Networks

It makes a lot of sense to report lost phones. In fact, it makes even more sense to do so now considering that reports of phones that are stolen will be now kept in a centralized database. This database is then shared amongst other major networks in the United States so that they can block the activation of any of these stolen phones.

AT&T and T-Mobile had already turned on their database on Wednesday and shortly after that, Verizon and Sprint will then do the same. It is expected that all of them will combine their database together latest by the end of November next year. When that time comes, expect stolen phones to be useless. For owners of lost phones, they can make a report of the stolen phones to their carriers. The details that need to be given is the type of phone as well as the IMEI number. This number is unique to only one phone so it is the best identifier that they can use.

With this being said and done, it is something that benefits all parties except those that has stolen phones. Hopefully, this database will be shared with other countries so that it can help stem cases of stolen phones in the future.
