It seems that a lot of legal actions are being taken by Apple and against it as well. Previously, Samsung had taken the initiative to sue Apple in 10 different countries as it violated Samsung’s wireless patents and now, Via Technologies has stepped up to the plate to take legal actions against Apple.

For starters, Via and Apple don’t have much in common. Apple produces products such as the iPhone, iPad and the lot while Via Technologies specializes in microprocessor. However, the patent on which Via claims Apple is infringing have a lot to do with microprocessor. More importantly, they specified that Apple infringes their patent in almost all of their devices, from Apple TV to the iPhone.

This move will definitely cost Apple a lot of money especially if the court approves of Via’s claim. It’s simply because Apple will have to pay a premium to Via for every product sold and based on the millions of iPhone and iPad sold, we think that it would be very profitable on Via’s behalf should they win in the court. Additional sources also revealed that HTC is also backing up Via’s legal action against Apple.
