Weekend Updates…

I love seeing new apps appear in the App Store. Sure, I only have an interest in a small percentage of the ones that appear daily, but every now and then there is a new app that makes me go "Wow!"

As much fun at that is, though, what is even more fun these days is seeing my favorite apps get incremental updates that add new features, increase speed and stability and, little by little, make my iPhone an even more powerful device.

Things had been quiet on both fronts lately but in the last day or so a number of my favorites received updates yet again. While none of them are earth shattering, it is nice to see good apps getting even better.

Among the recent updates…

Evernote-

My single favorite iPhone app just got bumped up to version 1.5. In recent updates we saw the addition of notes editing (albeit limited to plain text notes), fancy new uses for the iPhone’s location feature and offline notes availability.

By comparison, the 1.5 update is minor. Then again, small steps add up to a big difference over time. Among the changes this time around…

–Voice Notes are now available on iPod Touch (2G) (obviously requires microphone headset since there is no built in mic)
–Improved camera orientation handling

It also-
–Fixes snapshot-related crashing
–Improves offline note editing

Evernote is available HERE in the App store for free.

AP Mobile News Network-

The AP Mobile news Network app is a great way to get news from the AP wire service. It provides personalized access to a wide range of content both national and global. You can even select local news and access AP’s videos, photos and more.

This updates significantly improves the application’s speed and stability.

It may not sound like much but if you use the app it makes a HUGE difference.

The updated app  is available HERE in the App Store for free.

Twittelator Pro-

Our favorite Twitter client just keep getting better. The recipient of multiple updates since its release, recent updates  added numerous emoticons/dingbats, the ability to follow conversations with the Reply Chain feature, and a number of editing options that include Copy Link, Open any Link and Paste Link.

With this new update, Twittelator Pro now includes the ability to use the alternate micro-blogging service “identi-ca” and use of Pikchur.com for photos.

Other addition include a new “black on white” theme, auto-shortening of URLs, and one-tap ReTweet.

The Twittelator web site has also been updated with Tips and Hints on using these new features.

Twittelator Pro is available HERE in the App store for just $4.99.

All of these are nice, incremental updates. All I can say is… THANKS and… Keep ‘Em Coming!
