DOJ claims Apple’s changes to in-app purchase rules were aimed at Amazon – The Department of Justice on Friday revised their proposal to punish Apple for iBook antitrust violations, alleging that the Cupertino company lied to the government about the manner in which the App Store operates and that changes to rules governing in-app purchases were designed to cripple Amazon’s competitive Kindle app.

Apple’s next-gen Mac Pro ad hits YouTube ahead of Fall release – As Apple engineers scramble to finalize the next-generation Mac Pro for US-based assembly, the company’s marketing department has been increasingly teasing and hyping the dream machine ahead of its Fall launch. Moviegoers who’d gone out to see the new Jobs biopic last weekend, or any other movie for that matter, spotted a Mac Pro video.

Pandora drops 40-hour free listening limit ahead of iTunes Radio launch – On its earnings call yesterday Pandora CEO Mike Herring said the company would be dropping its 40-hour free listening limit on mobile devices, which it instituted in February. The limit saw users having to pay for Pandora’s annual subscription fee of US$36 if they went over 40 hours of free listening a month on their mobile devices.

Apple’s Embark acquisition could bring transit information to Apple Maps – Apple has acquired yet another mapping company, this time snapping up Embark, a move that has the potential to bring public transit information to Apple’s in-house Maps app.
