Why Apple won’t make Siri official on iPhone 4

Siri is a great application but it is kind of sad knowing that this application on which so many people are interested in will be available only on the iPhone 4S and not the iPhone 4 as well. After all, the iPhone 4 is quite similar to the iPhone 4S although there are certain things changed internally.

Some of the reasons that people have speculated as to the real reason why Siri isn’t made official in the iPhone 4 is that it may cause an overload to Apple’s servers if the company opens up to more customers in the future. In addition to this, there is also a speculation saying that since Siri is still in beta and thus Apple would want to have a more controllable audience instead of having additional customers pouring in.

However, a more reasonable reason would be from those coming from Linley Group which focuses on chip analysis. An employee called Linley Gwennap stated that the A5 chip present in the iPhone 4S features a noise reduction technology called earSmart licensed from Audience. The iPhone 4 also has the technology on-board but it activates only if the speaker is talking within close proximity to the microphone. On the iPhone 4S on the other hand, the technology is advanced enough to do noise reduction at a distance of at least an arm’s length.
