Amateur Surgeon Lite Edition – Review

Many paid apps have a lite version in which they offer a stripped down or limited version of their paid app to allow users to basically try before they buy.  I will be reviewing many of these apps as they often make it into the top 25 free app list.  Amateur Surgeon Lite Edition is an imaginative game where you get to perform animated surgery using bizarre tools.  The free version of this game allows you to perform two surgeries.

The idea of the game is very comical.  A pizza delivery guy comes across a doctor who has had some problems and learns surgery from him using tools found in his pizza truck.  The animation is funny and entertaining.  It has a very edgy look to it which goes well with the game as I would think performing crazy surgeries on your phone is probably considered edgy.  This game is put together well and is very polished.

To perform the surgeries you complete a series of tasks that use touch gestures.  Different tools are required such as a pizza cutter to open up your victim err patient.  You close the wounds with a stapler and then cauterize the wound with a cigarette lighter.  The gameplay is intuitive using many different touch gestures.  Performing the surgeries is surprisingly entertaining.  The full game might be worth a purchase.  If you would like to see if it is for you then check out Amateur Surgeon Lite Edition and test your surgeon skills.

Quick Take:

Value:  High
Would I buy again?  Yes.  Also considering the paid version.
Learning Curve:  Medium
Who is it for?  Anyone looking for a fun imaginative game.
What I like:  Animation.  Gameplay.
What I don’t:  Only 2 levels in free version.

This gets 4 out of 5 stars!
