User Rating:Usually we only hear about American sports players here in the States, but that doesn’t stop Agnieszka Radwanska, the polish tennis player, from marketing herself in a vdeo game. Even better, the video game takes advantage of the Bluetooth capabilities of the iPhone and later iPod Touches for multiplayer and even tournament capability.
Since I only tested this on a 1st generation iPod Touch with no built-in Bluetooth, I availed myself to the "Quick Play" single player version for review.
The background music of the app borders on annoying. Muting that was the first thing I did in the Options upon starting the game. I like how you can choose the name of your tennis player, but it defaults to your device name.
The game is reactionary (a bit like the game Space Ace) in which you have to tap a red cross in order to get to a particular area of the court to return a serve or hit. To hit the ball to the right or left, you have to tilt the device in that direction. You can flip the device forward to hit the ball hard.
The graphics are very good, but the sound effects can only be described as amusing. The sound of a tennis ball hitting the pavement sounds more like a golf ball hitting the pavement. I can only wonder whether they got Ms. Radwanska to make the female grunting sounds or just used an actress.
Overall, the game is pretty good and can certainly kill some time It’s worth the $.99 price even if you’re not a tennis enthusiast.
Pros: Good graphics. Fun game.
Cons: Sounds could use work.
