The iPhone can do a lot of great things, but one area that seems to be seriously lacking is the camera. It’s clunky to hold, can’t zoom and lacks a flash, something even disposable cameras have.
"Camera Plus Pro" tries to compensate for these flaws with varying degrees of success.
It does have a lot of noticeable improvements over the iPhone’s built-in camera, which isn’t hard to do since the built-in camera only has a button for shooting pictures and viewing them.
The camera can zoom into the picture and even focus on certain parts of the picture for the zoom. The app can take a series of successive shots and even time the shutter for self-portraits. You can also brighten or flatten a darker picture to compensate for the lack of a flash in low-light areas. It even has a full-screen touch option that lets you take a picture by touching anywhere on the screen instead of the tiny button.
Since the app is running on the iPhone’s camera, some of the options can only work so well. The zoom option is nice, but the picture can get pixelated if you zoom too close. The interface isn’t as responsive as the original phone’s camera. The most frustrating aspect is the saving of pictures. It won’t save them to your "Pictures" folder and only allows you to email them, post them on your Twitter or Facebook page or save them to a "Quick Roll" that can only be accessed through the app.
It still does do a nice job of improving the iPhone’s camera but fails to retain the few things it does right.
