User Rating:Admittedly, I have a unique perspective in terms of reviewing this game. You see, I was once a contestant on Cash Cab. Really. I won $450. My only regret from the experience is that I didn’t give Ben Bailey a $100 tip for the best cab experience of my life.
One of the first things you do in the game is choose the fictional friend for your "phone a friend" opportunity. There are various types of people to choose from, some of which I might have even socialized with if they existed. Sadly, I was hoping to get a sports nut to compensate for my own sports trivia inadequacy. There is even a video question at the end as with the actual game. That question remains my Achilles’ heel (I wisely didn’t try it when I was on the show).
In the end, Cash Cab is a trivia game, albeit a very good one with excellent graphics. Questions range from categories as diverse as History, Pop Culture, Language, Science, etc. Get 3 wrong and the cab drops you off somewhere in the city. Get all the questions right on the way to your destination and win the game.
One idea to improve the game would be to actually simulate riding in the cab with Ben Bailey. There are lights and whatnot throughout the cab. It would be even cooler to have the streets of NYC moving along in the background. Another small issue I have is that the size of the options menu is very small and it made the options difficult to navigate.
However, I really like that you can play your music in the background while playing the game.
Overall, a good game and on sale for $.99. Recommended.
Quick Take
Value:High.
Would I Buy Again:Given my personal connection to the game, yes.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Cash Cab enthusiasts or those that like trivia games in general.
What I Like:Great graphics. Good game simulation.
What I Don't Like:Small options menu. Could simulate the Cash Cab ride better, but that's being nit picky.
Final Statement:Well worth the $.99 investment. Don't forget to tip Ben Bailey.
