User Rating:Chop Chop Ninja is quite possibly the best iPhone implementation of this style of game that I’ve ever seen. Let me explain that in more detail.
Chop Chop Ninja is like Super Mario Brothers or any of an assortment of games that involves a central character running around a maze and fighting off other characters in an effort to reach a goal. However, unlike other adaptations I’ve seen that generally use a virtual joystick or buttons, Chop Chop Ninja runs strictly by using the touchscreen of the iPhone or iPod touch.
The game itself can be described in a series of "c"-words: cute, colorful and cartoony. The central character is a cross between a bad-ass ninja warrior and a cute kitty. The graphics and animation are also very good and the character designs well done.
The game works simply by swiping your finger to the right to move the character along and taping above the character up to jump. Tap above the character repeatedly to climb. When you tap against one of the enemy warriors, the character attacks and knocks him/her/it off-screen.
Gameplay is smooth and there is enough challenge that repeated play is still fun..
This could very well be my favorite version of this type of game. Even though I got it for free during a one-day giveaway, I could easily see paying a buck or two for this one.
Quick Take
Value:High.
Would I Buy Again:Most probably.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Super Mario enthusiasts who want a good iPhone-based alternative.
What I Like:It's actually designed for the iPhone and not a copy from another console. Good character design.
What I Don't Like:Would be nice if it could play the audio library in the background while playing.
Final Statement:It's the Hello Kitty of ninja games.
