User Rating:Conquest is, in fact, a copy of the premise of the board game Risk. So much, in fact, that I’m wondering if there will be a lawsuit pending, much like the Scrabble lawsuit that eventually created Scrabulous.
As with the game of Risk, it’s a numbers game. You have a certain number of armies which you must strategically place around the map in an effort to conquer the world (if only Genghis Khan had a copy way back when).
The game can have up to eight players and it can be chosen whether the players are human (who play via a WiFi or data connection) or computer. Most interesting is that in this game the user has a choice of worlds. Sure you could choose the world as we know it, but you could also choose fantasy worlds such as Star Quest or Atlantis. I’d be impressed if one of the lands available in the future was Terry Pratchett’s Discworld.
Directions are supplied on the help menu in case you need a refresher on the game of Risk. One aspect of the game I don’t like is the inability to get to the help menu while you’re in the middle of a game. You have to surrender the game to get there.
The game seems fun if a little pricey. Risk fans will probably enjoy the game until such a time as Hasbro releases its own version.
Pros: Good strategic game. Nice war effects every time a country is conquereed.
Cons: Can’t get to the help menu without surrendering the game. Pricey.
