User Rating:As some of you might know, I am an avid fan of the Nintendo Wii platform and think that a lot of the games that are available on that system could easily fit in the palm of your hand on the iPhone.
De Blob is one excellent example of that point. Not only is this game a fun one to play, but I wasn’t expecting to spend as much time ‘reviewing’ this app as I did. Its very, very, addicting. Your goal, is to paint the town different colors and avoid getting stopped and striped of your color by the games villians I.N.K.T.
I like the fact that the game asks you to tell it where your center axis is (0,0,0 position) before it calibrates your iPhone for its 3 axis movement. This lets me keep the iPhone at a slight tilt toward me without having my guy run in one direction or another. I love the fast-pased music and increased velocity that your blob moves when you over tilt the iPhone in one direction or another. I love the simplicity of a game that lets you move quickly through various obstacles and uses actual physical skills to manage the movement of your character between alleys, buildings, and gates to paint the dull screen various colors.
The creative team at THQ did a fine job of creating a unique experience for this on the iPhone, including such small details as mixing the color pallet of your blob when you pick 2 different colors, or having to find a pool of water to shrink your blob down to fit between an alley way if he has gotten too bloated to fit.
The gameplay, graphics, sound, and controls, easily make this one of my favorites. Totally worth the $6.99 I paid for this game!
