The one evil creature that has been limitlessly popularised by iOS games, is the zombies. They have been tortured, shot, stabbed, burned and run over. Those poor things never know what hit them. Dead Ahead brings the same action in an endless 2D platformer package.
The world is coming to an end as it is taken over by the undead. You know you’re not going to make it, yet you decide to die fighting. Fire up your Vespa and load up the revolver. It’s party time! Go rampage on the walking dead by running over and crushing zombies. Shoot the brains out of those chasing you. Evade as long as you can before you witness the last son of adam being devoured by the green monsters.
Hurdles, pits, oil spills and vehicles obstruct you, while nitro and unlimited ammo help you run farther. One neat thing in Dead Ahead is that, the same traps are applicable to zombies too and if you’re cheeky enough, you can lead them to their death. Do a wheelie to go faster and outrun zombies but bosses, can still chase you. Shooting them down is the only way to beat these giant ogres.
The Garage arrangements are equally important in Dead Ahead. You can choose a better motorbike and a deadlier weapon. Different scary lonely locations can be selected too. Other power ups like headstart, double ammo, fast reload and resurrection can also be occupied here. Of course, you need to spend the money either in the app or from your wallet to get them. These equipments make a lot of difference in the Dead Ahead score and so it is a kind of ‘spend more, score more’ scenario here.
The graphics in Dead Ahead is the trendy 8bit and the sound effects are awesome. But, the controls are not the best though. I would have prefered a swipe gesture or dedicated touch buttons to move, rather than taping a point on the screen. This becomes cumbersome, especially in iPad when the pace increases. Besides this minor defect, Dead Ahead is surely an addictive title and is undoubtedly recommended.
