User Rating:Deep Dive is another iPhone game that dares to go way down, in a manner of speaking, at a time when most of the games that seem to click with App Store customers are those that deal with game characters who must go as high up as they can. (I’m looking at you, Doodle Jump.)
In Deep Dive, you control a cute little deep sea diver as he makes an effort to go deeper and deeper into the ocean. It’s not as simple as letting undersea gravity take over your character, though, as you need to tilt your device to jump on colored bubbles while trying not to fall straight into the bottom of the game screen, thus ending the game. The red, orange, and yellow bubbles earn you points, aside from letting you bounce on them, while the gray bubbles are more like traps, jumping on which will just make the diver fall through them. Other things to be avoided include octopuses and jellyfish (currently stationary but it would be nice to have some of them swimming about) that suck out a fraction of your precious air supply when they’re touched. Speaking of air supply, it should also be noted that the game ends when your oxygen level drops to zero. To avert this undesirable situation, you must also be able to collect oxygen-increasing power-ups, along with treasure chests that help boost your score and light bulbs that help illuminate the environment as you go deeper.
Admittedly, there’s quite a few things to remember when playing Deep Dive, but these rules and elements of gameplay no doubt add to the challenge of playing a seemingly simplistic, kiddie treat. Throw in some bubbly sound effects for good measure (no background music just yet, though) and you’ll have a fairly addictive time-killer that may or may not have you gasping for air.
Quick Take
Value:Medium.
Would I Buy Again:Probably Yes.
Learning Curve:Low, so long as you follow everything that's mentioned in the game's how-to section.
Who Is It For:People looking for a different take on the jumping vertical-scrolling iPhone game.
What I Like:Polished, fairly challenging for simple gameplay.
What I Don't Like:Stationary enemy creatures. No upbeat background music.
Final Statement:Dive in and enjoy.
Deep Dive takes place at Atlantic ocean. It is an easy-going and addictive game where your main objective is to make longest dive possible and collect highest score without running out of air.
The diver will move down by jumping on the bubbles. To jump on a bubble gently tilt your phone left or right. You can only jump once on each bubble.
When looking for new deeps to conquer look out for dangers of sea: there are octopuses, jellyfish and fake gray bubbles that will make your dive harder or even dangerous.
