I love odd games. From World of Goo to Shift, from Osmos to Spirits. Now I have a new entry to this collection: DEO – by Strapped to a meteor. Quirky, fun and hard. What else could I ask for?

Your goal is to go from the green start area until the red finish area, without falling into any black terrain, or falling from your meteor. Ninety-six levels of hard physical puzzles… And your only control is tapping! Tap and release to jump, the longer the tap the higher DEO will jump.

As you keep passing levels, the level select menu will start filling, until you form your own planet. The less number of times you die in each level, the more plants you’ll have in this one. Sounds complicated… But it isn’t: this is just a pick-up-and-play game. And a very good one at that

Enjoyable, with artistic backgrounds and an eerie music that is good enough to not turn it off. Simple controls, lovely character. Another addition to my collection of quirky games. Or as I put it in my iPhone, straight to the Best Games folder.

Quick Take

Value:Very High

Would I Buy Again:No doubt

Learning Curve:Pretty low

Who Is It For:Casual games, fans of artistic gameplay

What I Like:The overall feeling

What I Don't Like:The main menu is very odd to use

Final Statement:Must buy, it is awesomely done

Read the Developer's Notes:
Enter the gloomy world of DEO. Put your tapping skills to the test as you travel the serenity of space to create life and revive hope as you jump through 96 challenging levels requiring courage, skill and precision. Stylistically distinct, DEO features hours of immersive gameplay, challenging physics-based jumping, and a visually stunning art style.
Your goal is to jump to each hill of a rotating level to capture it. Complete each level successfully to build a planet on the main menu. The less you die in each level the more plants and life your planet will produce. From this fundamental balance, DEO leads the player through ambient backgrounds, deep artistic scapes and breathtaking visuals with a look that seems to combine dark, distressed and organic art.
