The whole Dragon suite of tools is best known as speech-to-text translators. Dragon Go! is no exception but in this case you can verbally do a web search of many of the popular site out there including Twitter, YouTube and CNN.
The app is incredibly simple to use with a red circular button for recording your search and a large "Stop" button for ending it. For such a simple function, the app comes with an excellent help section about the nuances of using it. In the settings, you can set Google, Yahoo or Bing as your search provider. However, it seems odd that you can’t use multiple ones at the same time.
When using the app, it would be best to enunciate your words as I was trying to Google the word "reporter" and it translated as "recorder". I’m sure others can find more awkward translation instances.
The app gives a (long) list of the supported websites that it can search. It’s a shame the list isn’t customizable. It would be nice to voice-search a non-popular website. The app can also search certain types of content providers like Last.fm, Yelp and your local iPod catalog.
Dragon Go! still has some tweaks to go before it can replace the usual typing mechanism, however it certainly is a step in the right direction. All you need is a data connection and an iPhone and you’re one step closer to those voice-command computers you’ve seen on Star Trek.
