User Rating:One of the selling points in the marketing for this game was that it was developed by one of the co-creators of Spore. In terms of the graphics, it shows. The benefit of Spore is that since the concept of the game deals with amorphous blobs you don’t need much design skill to create a convincing one. Sadly, when you’re creating dragons, a little detail might help.
But simplistic nature aside, it’s a cute game for those who have often desired to destroy a pastoral countryside. You’re a dragon and your objective is to slaughter as many people and destroy as much property (and collect coins in the process) in the shortest amount of time. It rivals Pocket God in terms of schadenfreude.
As you progress through the levels, the dragon must destroy and kill even more in order to continue. While I’m not impressed with the graphics, the designer did add some cute touches. The splatter of blood (or is it fire?) when an archer is destroyed, or even the fire that the dragon breathes when scrolling one’s finger across the screen correctly (the fire later turns into smoke as the dragon exhausts itself).
The game lacks in visuals but it certainly has spirit. Sadly, in this sort of game, visuals do matter. There must be style as well as substance. The developers should go back to the drawing board and at least come up with better character and background designs in future releases. If they do, they may have a winner on their hands.
