Can you tell me tomorrow’s weather? Probably. You do, after all, have that basic, almost useless Weather app on your iPhone. What can’t you tell me though? You can’t tell me the the current cloud cover, areas of precipitation, or neighboring cities’ current conditions. All of these conditions and more can be viewed in the EarthBuzz 3D Weather app.

This app, which is a universal iPhone/iPad app, gives you so many features that you’ll feel like a true meteorologist. In the app you choose your city (or the one closest to your location) and view the highs and lows of the next 7 days, along with the predicted forecast. In addition to this, you are given the current humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and dew point, along with the time which the data was recorded.

The true power user settings are accessible when you are not looking at your local conditions and are looking at the globe and nearby conditions. Here, when you tap the globe, several icons slide down from the top of your screen. If you choose the one with the two squares, you can toggle between cloud cover and precipitation overlays. These show the current conditions along with the next several hours’ data. This data, unlike your favorite weather channel, can be played, paused, fast-forwarded, and rewound to your liking by dragging the bar at the bottom of the screen.

What really sets this app apart from the other weather apps is not its powerful-while-simple features, but its unique 3D interface. You can pan the earth and see where clouds or precipitation are going (or have been). With a simple glance, you can see the cities around you and, if they have been hit by some rain, know that your town is probably next. You can also see where you are in relation to a storm. Really, it’s similar to Google Earth, if Google Earth offered weather conditions.

The app does have room for improvement, as all apps do. First of all, there should be more cities available for viewing. Hopefully more will be added over time. Also, the time manipulation did not always work for me.

But besides these things which can be worked out over time, this is a great weather app. It has more info than any other weather app that I have ever used and the experience is still enjoyable as you are not overloaded with too much information. This app has definitely replaced Apple’s Weather app on my phone.
