User Rating:Considering that eBay’s bread-and-butter is sales on their auction site, it should be no surprise that they would release a free app specifically for the purpose of putting up auctions. This was released in conjunction with their eBay Classifieds app and is likely an attempt to take some market share away from Craigslist.
The first thing you have to do when starting the app is agree to their Terms of Service. Once that is done, the program goes to a tutorial page on learning how to sell stuff on eBay in general and the app in particular.
As someone who infrequently sells items on eBay, I have to say that the design of this application is well done. The toolbar along the bottom reveals the eBay functions I use most often for selling, including researching similar items and checking the status of my sales-in-progress. There is also a section which eBay hocks its other App Store wares, but what can you do?
It still feels a little awkward entering an auction on a 3.5 inch screen. Obviously it takes much longer than entering the same auction on the website. However the text boxes, drop-down lists and buttons are spread out and fairly easy to read so eBay has done its best with that limitation.
Overall, the application is very good for eBay Selling on the go. And if you want to buy on the go, then there is still the eBay Mobile app. If I had a complaint, then it would be that both pieces of functionality aren’t in the same app. Oh well.
