User Rating:There are many reasons a developer would lower the cost of a game to zero. One might be to advertise something. One might be to promote an ideal, such as environmentalism. Eco Punk does the latter using guns and bombs on cars.
The central character is an eco-terrorist bunny-like creature on a skateboard. His mission is to pick up all the trash and garbage at an intersection while riding a skateboard and not get hit by any cars. Over time, the bunny gets offensive capabilities like guns and bombs. As the bunny picks up trash, the user gets points. If the bunny gets hit by a car, then the game is over.
The game is a little difficult to play at first as the direction of the bunny is controlled by swipes of your finger, and that took a little time to get used to. It does have good graphics and motion (including a cool red explosion when the bunny gets hit by a car) and comes with a good video tutorial on how to play the game.
It’s something of a downer that the character doesn’t get armed instantly. I find blowing up and/or shooting cars far more interesting than picking up trash. I can only presume that the weapons are given at later levels once the character shows environmental responsibility. 🙂
Eco Punk gets a thumbs-in-the-middle. It’s a cute game, but it gets kind of redundant after a while.
Quick Take
Value:Medium.
Would I Buy Again:For free? Probably. For a fee? Not likely.
Learning Curve:Medium, if only to figure out the degree of swiping necessary.
Who Is It For:Environmentally concious punks and terrorists.
What I Like:Good graphics and motion.
What I Don't Like:Game feels redundant after a while. Tough to control at first.
Final Statement:Eco Punk is somewhere between Eco Junk and an Eco Hunk.
