Eliminate Pro is an excellent first person shooter program with top-notch graphics. It represents the evolution of the game Doom. The graphics are superior to that program, but it has been almost 20 years since its initial release. I suspect if Doom were released today, it would look something like Eliminate Pro (or quite possibly better for gaming systems like XBox or PS3).
Other than the graphics, the nicest aspect of Eliminate Pro is the price. Currently the app is being offered for free (although as of this writing that promotion may no longer be the case). Still, they must make money somehow. There must be advertising involved somewhere but in my playing of the game, I haven’t seen any. There is something about earning credits, so I suspect Eliminate Pro has learned a lesson or two from World of Warcraft and is trying to become just as popular.
The game is meant to be playing over a WiFi or data network against other people (Doom had the same capability), but they do offer a single-player mode just for practice.
As with the iPhone/iPod Touch version of Doom, the touchscreen controls are a little tough to use and takes practice to master. The directions under the Options menu aren’t that clear either, despite the excellent graphics.
If you’re an FPS fan, then you have nothing to lose from downloading Eliminate Pro. If you can get a group of people involved, you may even make a couple of new friends before shooting them.
