Family Guy: Time Warped is done somewhat in the style of the last Family Guy game for the iPhone. The plot is that Stewie suddenly discovers that he might have been put up for adoption and decides to build a time machine to enact revenge. Brian and Stewie then get lost in time. Trust me, it makes sense in the context of the game (and the show).

The game is essentially a "walk and hit" quest where each level has a specific task and the characters of either Stewie or Brian have to beat people up on the way. The plot makes little sense, which is at least in the spirit of the animated program on which it’s based. Look for Family Guy characters substituting as historical ones and cameos by other recurring characters from the show. Perhaps in future levels they even thrown in some Cleveland Show and American Dad! characters as well.

The game really doesn’t feel that different from the previous Family Guy game or for that matter any one of a thousand other video games (Super Mario Brothers comes to mind, with a little more violence thrown in). I guess the creators are counting on that familiarity combined with a love of Family Guy.

Playing the game only involves tapping buttons on the screen in certain combinations and there isn’t that much in the way of customization in the settings. You can turn off sound and background music, and that’s pretty much it. The graphics are decent and it’s a cute story, but that’s it.

This game is one of the myriad of others that has been discounted for the holidays, so grab it fast if you want to pay one dollar rather than five. It’s worth the buck, particularly if you’re a Family Guy fan.

Quick Take

Value:Low to Medium.

Would I Buy Again:At five bucks? No. For a buck? Sure.

Learning Curve:Low.

Who Is It For:Family Guy fans and ... well, that's it.

What I Like:Cute story.

What I Don't Like:Game is redundant and cliche'.

Final Statement:Family Guy: Time Warped is a good time waster, but that's it.
