I wanted to go to the movies the otherday. Not an ‘earth shattering’ event by any means, but not knowing times (or where the closest theater was) I fired up my iPhone….only to have the "other movie app" I use not start. (I guess it isn’t 3.0 compatible!)
Thus started my quest for a new ‘movie finder’ app for my phone. I checked out a few, but the one I’m happiest with is the Fandango app.
Sure it’s got all the ‘bells and whistles’ that most apps have; it can find the closest theaters near where you are, it shows your the movie poster, "fan rating", synopsis, etc. All the stuff you’ve come to expect.
But the interface comes together very nicely. It’s isn’t screaming "I’m Fandango, Hear Me Roar"!, it’s more subtle–everything is right where I want it. Clicking on the poster (assuming it has a play button) lets me play the preview.
Clicking on a theater allows me to see everything that theater is showing. (If the theater supports purchasing tickets on line, I can purchase them via the phone! )
Clicking on the date, and I can change what date I’m looking at. (Maybe I want to see what’s playing tomorrow!)
All-in-all, I like how Fandango put together the app. Nothing suprising, but everything I need and the interface is super smooth.

Who Is It For: People that want to find what’s playing in the movies

What I Don’t: It’d be nice to search or filter the movies by genere, movie rating, or fan rating.
Final Statement: It’s definately a handy app to keep around…I recommend it! You never know when you’ll want to take in a show!
