It is games like Fast & Furious that convince me that the PSP has some serious competition in the graphics department (which could explain the rumor of the possible development of a PSP phone). I love the games that are first-person shooter and first-person driver. I’ve already reviewed the former with the Terminator Lite version, and now there is the Fast & Furious Lite version. What is it about developing games from action movies that leads to such incredible graphics?
Admittedly, in this case I didn’t see the associated movie (although I saw the first movie in the franchise). Based on the video game, I can probably guess the plot. But that’s not a requirement for playing the game.
The coolest aspect of the game is the fact that you have to hold your iPod Touch or iPhone like a steering wheel in order to drive (you turn by tilting the device). The game only works in landscape mode and that’s probably for the best.
There is a menu system available when you pause in the lower right corner to explain the rules of the game and allow you to purchase the full version. There are also cute CGI vignettes between the times the game is played that show the cars getting in formation to race.
For the price of free, the game is worth it. If you really are digging it, then purchase the full version for $1.99 which gives you more vehicles and tracks and the ability to race other people online.
