This app is currently on sale for $.99 (a 90% discount), so it’s either very good to the point of overconfidence or quite overpriced for what it was. After playing for a few minutes, I’ve concluded it was the former.
What a game! The graphics are incredible and intense. This is one of those iPhone games that make owning the PSP irrelevant. One of my favorite features of F.A.S.T. is the ability to switch between five different perspectives seemlessly. There was absolutely no delay.
The concept of the game is simple. You’re in a dogfight with enemy planes and you have to shoot them down at the same time avoiding their weaponry. It’s even possible to have multiplayer games over WiFi.
Just for fun, I crashed my plane into the ground and the resulting explosion was spectacular (obviously, I won’t be your pilot anytime soon). They even show an instant replay of the moment of death. The game also has a choice of various types of historical jets to fly. I usually pick the FA-140.
The game does take a while to get used to in terms of the controls. I’m still now sure which way is exactly up.
When one is used to $.99 cent apps, it’s tough to justify spending ten bucks on a game. That’s probably why SGN reduced the price of this one so drastically. For a buck, this game is a steal.
Pros: Fantastic graphics and sound. Great game.
Cons: Difficult to learn at first.
