What do we do whenever we’re hungry but also either tired or in a strange part of town? Get fast food of course! With the app Fastfood, finding local restaurants has never been easier.

The app is currently $1.99 for the world edition or 99¢ for the restaurants of a specific country, like the UK, Italy, France, or the US. If you buy a specific country’s app, there is always the ability to update to the world edition for 99¢ more by in-app purchase.

When the app is opened, you can select the place at which you would like to eat at (or you can simply select ‘Any’). The app includes many popular places including McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, Pizza Hut, Domino’s, and Taco Bell. The app also features places which you may not consider fast food like Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, but it is definitely great to have these places included in the app too.

So what’s different than using the Maps app? Well, in this app you can select to view all local restaurants and the ones nearest will show up all around the map or also in an easy-to-read list, rather than just a blind search in the Maps app. Also, the app has the ability to open up your selected restaurant in either Navigon or Tom Tom and take you directly there. Another difference from the Maps app is the incredible ability to view restaurant locations while offline, because you never know when you’ll be without data.

This app does have a lot of useful information behind it, but not everything is perfect. Obviously not every restaurant chain is covered and not every single location is known to this app. There is the ability to either remove inaccurate locations or edit current locations though. and it’s great to know that this system of user contributions is monitored for accuracy. Because fast food franchises are always popping up, hopefully this system along with future updates will provide the most current info available.

All these are very minor flaws and can be worked out. The biggest problem I see? The lack of a phone number in a restaurant’s information page. Currently it is not possible to call the restaurants from within the app. So without further research, it would be impossible to, let’s say, order a pizza from Pizza Hut or Domino’s and have it delivered to your hotel room. Although this feature is not currently present, there will be an update including phone numbers very soon!

Quick Take

Value:High

Would I Buy Again:Definitely

Learning Curve:Low

Who Is It For:A must for any (traveling) fast food eater

What I Like:The app?s no-fuss nature and offline capabilities

What I Don't Like:No phone numbers yet or random selection from near restaurants

Final Statement:Just like fast food, Fastfood is cheap, simple, and a great timesaver

Are you hungry and do not know where to find the next fast food restaurant? This app helps you for sure! It tries to locate the position of your device¹ and makes an easy proposal of all fast food restaurants around.
The simple map interface displays all found restaurants all at once! Simply tap on one of the restaurant markers and get more information about the restaurant (like the address and driving directions).
If you are just interested in one type of restaurant, you can simply choose one of them and hide others. Adjust or remove single restaurants to update our database and make it more accurate to all people using this App.
Do you want to help somebody out? Use the integrated search and jump to any location to get the nearby restaurants and send a notification directly via SMS or E-Mail. Use the integrated directions option, to get a guided tour directly to the fast food restaurant of your choice.
Once bought you may use the app on your iPod and iPhone, but it does also support your iPad natively!
Even though we have tried to fetch all the restaurant locations with the highest possible accuracy, it is still possible that there are some mismatches between our database and the actual position of the restaurant. Therefore the new version offers the possibility to adjust restaurant positions and submit them, so everybody can benefit.
-¹ Please note, no App does not have any influence on how accurate the locational services can determine the position of any device. This strongly depends on your local connectivity and the availability of GPS.

-² The app requires an internet connection at first run for downloading restaurant data. After that, offline mode (without searching/maps) is possible.

-³ Which data are available for a restaurant depends on the country and the restaurant itself.

- Neither the seller nor the app itself is connected to McDonald's Corp., Burger King Corp., Subway, Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Starbucks, Domino's Pizza, Dunkin Donuts, Taco Bell, Tim Horton’s and/or Nordsee
