The developers claim this app is being released for free on the iTunes page. I would assume this means it might be a paid app soon. There is no information on pricing or timing so if you would like to try this game out for free, then I would jump on it quickly.
Fishing games can be quit a mixed bag. Many of them are trying to be way too serious and strike out, while others are extremely casual and cutesy. Fishing Frenzy falls into the latter category. I actually tend to enjoy the cutesy, arcade like fishing games as I find it difficult to replicate the real fishing experience.
As you can see from the screen shot, the game has a cutesy theme and graphics set. In fact, I would think young kids would love this game. The music is fun and along with the graphics, there is an upbeat fun feel to the game. The graphics are cartoonish which works well.
The idea of the game is simple. You have a set amount of time and a score you have to reach before that time runs out. Each fish is worth a set amount of points and as the levels move on, more fish are added creating a wider range of possible points.
As for gameplay, I have to first explain that I am not yet a fan of games that use the acclerometer for control. I do not mind tilting the phone some, but I am old fashion in that I like to push buttons. With that said, this game utilizes the acclerometer as the only means of control. You are in a boat and can see the fish below you in the water. By tilting your phone left and right you move the boat back and forth. Tilting the phone forward and back raises and lowers the hook. Once you hook a fish your fisherman jerks the fish out of the water and up into the air. If the fish lands in your boat, you collect the points. You must make sure your boat is under the fish, or it will drop back into the water and continue swimming on its way.
The controls are responsive and work well with the gameplay. Pick this one up if you enjoy casual fishing games or if you have a young kid around that might like to give it a try.

Who is it for? Very casual gamers, young gamers, or fans of accelerometer controls.
What I like: The theme set by the graphics and music.
What I don’t: There is no change in the look of each level.
