User Rating:Table Hockey has been done before as an app, but this particular application brings a unique spin to it by allow people to play the game in the dark. It also helps that the neon looks very psychedelic. It’s probably fun to play if one is high or tripping.
The free version only comes with a 1 player game while the full version comes with a 2 player mode. The free version also only has easy and medium levels while the paid has a difficult level. As of this writing, the free version is the #1 free app in the App Store.
The graphics and animation are superb, even better than the previous popular, free version of Table Hockey. The sound effects are also interesting as the puck hitting the side sounds a bit like glass breaking.
If I had to point out a downside to the app, it’s the lack of settings. The user cannot turn off sounds save by the volume control. This feature is in the paid version of the application, however I am of the opinion that it should be in the free one as well.
Glow Hockey is as addicting as every other Table Hockey game I’ve played. The simplicity of hitting the puck into your opponents goal in an effort to score 7 points can keep one occupied, whether adult or child, for hours on end. Despite the limitations of the free version, it’s still good for keeping a single person occupied on the bus or in the office (provided you keep the volume off on your device).
Quick Take
Value:Medium to High.
Would I Buy Again:Probably.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Table Hockey lovers who play in the dark.
What I Like:Excellent graphics and motion. Price.
What I Don't Like:Limitations of free version.
Final Statement:Since the paid version is only $.99, an upgrade might be worth it.
