User Rating:My biggest problem with GotoAID is not the app itself. It’s the thinking behind the app.
One of the more amusing aspects of the app is that it opens with a disclaimer basically saying they’re not sure about the accuracy of the advice and that you should always consult a physician for a serious problem. If you hit the "disagree" button, the app closes.
The app offers text advice for a variety of illnesses for people, dogs, and cats. Thankfully the people, dogs and cats are divided into different sections. I’d hate to accidentally perform dog CPR on a person.
The app shows the steps for performing CPR on a person (or cat or dog). Although this seems like a good idea, if someone is choking, I don’t know if the first thing that will pop into my head is to grab my iphone / touch and start up this app. I don’t think you’re going to have time to read the manual. The best bet is to be familiar with the steps in advance and you can go to the associated website of GotoAID (gotoaid.com) and learn it there. Still, it’s nice to have methods of treating medical problems handy.
For those with an iPhone, the app also comes with an automatic 911 dialer as well as a big button in the bottom right corner as a shortcut to the steps for performing CPR.
This is a handy app to have and beats carrying around a paper manual of the same information, but learning the steps before hand is probably a better idea. In that regard, it’s well worth the $2.99 price, particularly if you have kids.
