User Rating:I wish I could say I was a big fan of strategy games rather those where somethin’ blows up real good, but I’m not. I doubt I’d be able to sit though an adventure of World of Warcraft. Still, I am a superhero fan and when a free application is released called Heroes I have to give it a try (hopefully NBC won’t sue the pants off the creators).
Sadly, I think the effort was lost on me. I didn’t even get entirely through the demo because I got lost trying to figure out where the vault was to deposit $500.
As with Dungeons and Dragons and every spin-off that resulted thereof, the user is expected to figure out who he/she is and obtain skills and resources to become a superhero. Then a central figure known as the Immortal gives the user various quests so the hero can become even more hero-like. Repeat until dead.
Obviously, this game is geared more towards the peer-to-peer playing crowd since the concept is that you play and compete with other users for points, experience, etc. I found the game hard to understand right from the beginning but I’m probably not the target audience (if I am, they’re in trouble).
The game does advertise before it starts. It probably has people pay real money towards things like money in the game or hit points or something.
They don’t even let us pick out our own tights and cape. That’s just not cricket. This one is a big thumbs down.
Pros: Good concept
Cons: Confusing. Bad design,
O U R T A K E...
