User Rating:Hexile is a really addictive puzzle game with great music and a unique graphical style. The basis of the game is to eliminate numbered tiles by tapping on the number either above or below the last tile eliminated. There are various power ups to assist as the levels get more difficult. The first few levels make it easy to catch on to the idea of the game. Although the game was visually stunning, I was not sure about the playability when I played the first time. As you come to understand the game better and create your own strategies, you advance to levels that become extremely challenging. A timer keeps the game play fast paced and each level raises the difficulty. Just a word of warning, this game is very addictive!
The graphics are well done with a very dark and edgy style. The music sets a mood of anticipation and helps add to the suspense. The interface is very simple. The title screen only has three options: New, Continue, and Help. You are able to play the level you left off at anytime by simply tapping continue. This is an important inclusion as you can play the game casually whenever you need to kill a spare minute. If I would have to start over every time I opened the game, I would probably not play often. I have found myself playing during spare moments for the past few days and thinking about strategies to beat the level I last attempted. One thing I feel is important for mobile gaming is that they are deep and challenging yet can be played in short periods of time. Basically, you can jump right in where you left off at anytime. I am a fan of puzzle games and Hexile is fun and difficult enough to have me hooked!
