User Rating:We have all been there. Getting roommates to work together and accomplish a task. Who is going to wash the dishes, who has to clean the bathrooms. If you find yourself in this spot and you are all iPhone users then you are in luck because High Five Labs has a solution to team based to-do lists with their new app HoneyDo. HoneyDo is a sharable to-do that allows you to create groups and then assign tasks to members of the group. This offers a compelling way to organize with people that are on the go or may even be in remote locations.
The first order of business when using HoneyDo is to create an account and then either join or create a group. You can be a member of as many groups as you want, so you can have separate groups for your roommates, your office, your bowling league, etc. You can invite users who will then be prompted to input a code to join a group. From the group you can either assign a task to a member or leave the task unassigned. All members of the group can edit tasks so other users can take assignments. Every task can be commented on so if a member has a questions or comment they can add it to the task.
Subtasks can be added to create projects but the subtasks cannot be assigned to anyone other than the members assigned to the parent task. While this allows for some "Getting Things Done" style tasking, subtasks cannot be individually assigned which makes this app less suited to large project management and more for smaller group organization. The app will notify members with PUSH messages when new tasks are assigned. HoneyDo also has the option to add new tasks to the member’s calendar on the iPhone with notification alarms for due dates as well.
HoneyDo demonstrates one of the many strengths of the iPhone and its kind. HoneyDo seems to be well built for organizing tasks with roommates or among a small group working on a project. Depending on how your group does its organization it may not offer the fine tuned controls that a larger team may need to manage multiple projects with large number of subtasks. If you have a family or roommates that have iPhones, pick up HoneyDo and see if it helps simplify your house hold and getting things done. HoneyDo is $4.99 and available now on the app store.
