User Rating:This is a neat little, free, utility that I picked up the other day. I was curious about how it would work so I thought I would give it a try. Since my wife uses an HP printer that is connected to the network (I use a fantastic multifunction printer that I got from Epson and reviewed over on GearDiary) I thought it might be the perfect opportunity. The printer is on the network but it’s not in my home study which is exactly the kind of situation where this application would be perfect.
It turns out that I was absolutely correct. The application is about as simple to use as it could be and it works perfectly. So long as you are looking to print photographs and not text, that it.
When I started up the application it immediately showed me that there was an HP printer on the network. It invited me to select a photo from my album and asked me which printer I wanted to use. (Simple since there is only one.) I hit print and it printed a 4 x 6 image. Had I been using photo paper it would have printed the picture in a borderless format but since I was using paper that is what I got.
It was about as easy as it could be and the price was right. And while I wish it could print text I found that by taking a screen capture of text on my screen I could then print that AS an image, thereby working around this limitation. I should note that it prints exactly what is on the screen, offering zero control over the size, shape, color etc of the image.
There are more flexible printing apps out there but this app, unlike some others, is fast and free.
Quick Take
Value: High as a free app
Would I Buy Again: Yes since it is limited but free
Learning Curve: Zero. Simple and intuitive
Who Is It For: Someone with a networked HP printer and minimal "srtraight from the iPhone" printing
What I Like: Does what it says
What I Don’t: Does ONLY what it says
Final Statement: Free, simple utility that does one thing but does it with ease
