User Rating:The Hungry Pets is a fun new game where you try to feed your pet before your opponent gets to his or her food.
Feeding these pets is not an easy task though. As the board is made up of 49 tiles, most of which do not match surrounding tiles and simply hinder your movement, you will have to plan and strategically place your tiles. The game provides you with a random piece which, like in Tetris, makes an already-difficult game even more difficult. Pieces are not able to be placed anywhere; they are placed on one of the four edges of the board, pushing all other pieces in that row to the left or right.
This challenging game will briefly explain itself in the tutorial, but as this only includes the absolute basics of the game, and much of the gameplay must be learned through trial and error.
There are three game modes available: Single Player, Multiplayer, and Online. In Single Player mode, it is you versus the clock and move counter only; there are no computer opponents in this game mode, or any game mode for that matter. This is definitely strange and will hopefully be added in a future update.
The Multiplayer game mode is a lot of fun, if you have an opponent available to play.
Last, but certainly not least, is the Online mode. Here you have the ability to play against any player in the world who is a member of Apple’s Game Center, which is useful if you do not have an opponent available. Using the new turn-based gaming, this game can be played against your friend across the street or across the country.
The Hungry Pets is a great game with fun characters and pleasant graphics, but don’t let this fool you – the gameplay is often brutal.
