The "Ask A Ninja" phenomenon has been screaming for its video game, interactive experience, virtual reality simulation, whatever. It’s hard to believe it took this long to develop one for it.

Unfortunately, I still wish they had taken a little longer to develop it.
"I Am Ninja," named for the catchy theme song that accompanies each "Ask a Ninja" video, features a main game, three mini-games and a catalogue of videos from the "Ask a Ninja" series. And while they all have varying degrees of fun and entertainment, it still doesn’t feel quite enough for the price tag.

The main game titled "Confrontation" is a left-to-right shooting gallery featuring the ninja’s only known enemy, pirates and ninjas who have died and been reanimated as zombies. The player tilts the screen to aim at the targets and touches the screen to fire. Since you can upgrade your weapons to all sorts of ridiculous weapons, the game is actually a lot of fun. It also features three smaller games, a balance beam challenge, a memory repeating game and an archery challenge titled "Obstacle," that are all rehashes of simple online flash games to the ninja theme.

The list of videos is quite small and you can unlock more by playing the "Confrontation" game, but the pickings are rather slim. It doesn’t feature a very full catalogue and even includes videos that are just ads for the game you just purchased. That’s like watching the trailer to the movie you paid to see.

The presentation is fun and creative, just like the "Ask a Ninja" series. It’s peppered with fun imagery that matches the series and even has some very funny taunts featuring the Ninja himself.
Too bad you can’t taunt it back without risking a ninja star to the forehead. Shoot.

Quick Take

Value:Not enough for the price tag

Would I Buy Again:Maybe if it had slightly more to do and see

Learning Curve:A white belt could learn how to use it

Who Is It For:Amateur ninjas tired of slicing their own fingers off with their homemade throwing stars

What I Like:Main game is fun and addictive and it has the look, feel and humor of the "Ask a Ninja" series

What I Don't Like:Mini-games are fun but get old quick, the video library is unforgivably small

Final Statement:Needs to go back to ninja school for a little while longer
