Problem- you want to post a picture but it contains an email address that you don’t want to put our publically for all to see.

Problem- you want to post an image but can’t take the time to get permission from one of the people in it.

Problem- You take a picture of a car but want to obscure the plate number.

Solution- If you are on your computer you can use any number of editing tools to remove the iage or cover it over.

Personally, I use skitch all the time to remove or block out email addresses or or other personal information that finds its way into a screen cap.

But what if all you have is your iPhone? That is where this little picture utility comes in.

iAnonymize lets you obscure specific areas of images quickly and easily.

You can take a new photo or grab one from your picture roll.

You can control the height and width of the area obscured, as well as choose whether to mask with a blur or completely cover the area in question. You can also add multiple areas to a single image.

You can the send or save the final image.

The app works quickly and easily and does exactly what it says. I only wish you could control the shape of the masked area (perhaps to include ovals etc for more precise masking) and rotate the masking to get a more accurate covering. There are, however, small complaints within a utility that truly gets one specific job done quite well.

Quick Take

Value: High: if you need this functionality $.99 is a bargain
Would I Buy Again: I would since I do post from my iPhone and need to obscure portions of pictures
Learning Curve: Low
Who Is It For: Anyone who needs to block off an area or areas of a picture on the fly
What I Like: Works well. Does what it says. Easy to use.
What I Don’t: Would love to see the ability to rotate the masking and control its shape.

Final Statement:
In all, a great app for people who need to blur out portions of images
