User Rating:I’ve never been a big fan of coffee. Tea has always been my hot beverage of choice. While tea is more acceptable in Europe and Asia, it is still overshadowed by coffee as the preferred morning beverage here. Fortunately, the iPhone has been released internationally and there are others out there who share my passion.
iCuppa is, fundamentally, a timer. The creator has determined the optimal amount of time to allow teabag to soak in a cup of hot water that would maximize the beverage’s flavor. Once a type of tea is selected, a counter counts down to the time to remove the tea bag.
The app is silly. You can use any number of timer apps (some of which are free) that would accomplish the same thing. In fact, the only tea-related aspect of the app is the graphic of a brewing cup of tea that appears below the timer.
If the creator wanted to accomplish more, how’s about including some tea trivia? What composes each type of tea? What are the differences between green tea and black tea?
The list of tea flavors can be edited, so if you like chocolate tea as I do you can input the optimal time on your own. You can also alter the times for each tea if you disagree with the creator’s concept of the optimal time.
iCuppa is a cute idea that is ultimately unnecessary in the real world. Only download it if you are a tea snob and can’t use a timer unless there is a picture of a cup of tea to go with it.
